The DA in Govan Mbeki expresses concern over continuous water supply challenges in Secunda.
For over a month now residents in this area have been subject to water shortages caused by two non functional reservoirs.
It cannot be business as usual while residents are confronted with empty water taps on a regular basis.
It is unacceptable that residents in some parts of the municipality are reliant on water handouts while the municipality sits idle.This is a basic service enriched in the constitution of the country that the municipality is failing to provide.
It must be noted that prolonged water outages in Govan Mbeki have raised serious concerns on the reservoir’s reliability and the municipality’s management of its infrastructure.
The incompetence of the current ANC administration and mismanagement of funds has brought nothing but suffering and despair to our communities.
There is growing frustration and a lack of confidence in the municipality’s ability to ensure a consistent water supply. It is crucial to address these concerns promptly and transparently.
The truth of the matter is that the municipality is failing in its responsibility of provisioning water and sanitation to communities in a sustainable manner.
Therefore, the DA will escalate this matter to council and compel the relevant department to take responsibility and provide water and other services to residents.
