The DA in Thaba Chweu will approach the Department of CoGHSTA over the municipality’s continuous disregard for the Municipal Systems Act.
At a recent council sitting, the ANC blatantly overlooked minimum job requirements relating to the appointment of a Technical Director.
According to the advertisement, the requirements for the position called for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent, a minimum of (5) five years experience at the middle management level, engineering management experience, a certificate in Municipal Finance Management Program and a Certificate Program in Municipal Development (CPMD), amongst others.
However, their chosen candidate did not meet these requirements as the candidate does not possess the necessary financial certificate and the required experience.
The DA has been at loggerheads with the municipality over their irregular appointments of senior managers. The DA wishes to highlight that any person acting in managerial position must be suitably qualified by means of tertiary qualifications and relevant experience.
The ANC in Thaba Chweu has done everything to have their own cadres appointed to these positions. As a result, this has disrupted the wheels of service delivery.
The municipality needs a transparent and law abiding governance. The ongoing circus in this municipality goes to show that the ANC does not have the interests of residents at heart.
The DA will keep exposing the ANC’s shortcomings, we will not allow senior managers to be appointed unlawfully because of their affiliation with the ANC.
Noting the above, the DA will write to the MEC of CoGHSTA, Speedy Masilo, requesting that he review this appointment.
