DA in Mpumalanga assembles strong caucus for Seventh Provincial Legislature

The DA in Mpumalanga is excited about the commencement of the seventh administration in the provincial legislature. 

With this in mind, the party would like to express its gratitude to voters who came out in numbers to cast their ballots in support of the DA in Mpumalanga. 

The outcomes of the 2024 provincial and national elections have confirmed that the DA in Mpumalanga has grown by 3%. The party’s overall support has increased to 12% from the 9% it garnered in 2019. 

In the seventh administration, the Mpumalanga Legislature will have 51 seats. These seats will be distributed amongst six parties. The DA in Mpumalanga has been allocated six seats. 

Therefore, we have put together a strong caucus led by the party’s Provincial Chairperson, Bosman Grobler. This will be his third term in the legislature, previously, he served in the Economic Cluster and the SCOPA committee. 

The caucus consists of skilled and competent members who will serve the people of Mpumalanga with pride and excellence. Other members who will represent the DA in the Mpumalanga Legislature are:

  • Trudie Grovè-Morgan – The party’s deputy leader. She became a member of the legislature in 2019, during this term Trudie served on both Social and Economic clusters.  This after serving as a Ward Councillor in Mbombela from 2013 until 2019. Trudie will serve in this seventh administration as the Whip for the DA.
  • James Masango –  He first joined the DA’s predecessor, the Democratic Party in August 1994.Masango is no stranger to the Mpumalanga Legislature as he served as a member in the 5th administration, the social cluster being his strong point. Amongst other roles, Masango has been to the National Assembly where he served as a member in the Public Works Portfolio Committee. 
  • Annerie Weber – She joined the DA in October 2007. Webber has since gone on to occupy a number of positions including the Constituency Operations Manager since, Provincial Director and Political Head. In the sixth administration, Webber was elected to parliament and served as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Forestry, and Environment.
  •  Tersia Marshall – She has been a steadfast force within the Democratic Alliance since joining the party as an activist in 2015. Marshal has been dedicated to upholding democratic values and serving her community with integrity and passion. In 2016 Marshall was elected as a ward councilor in the City of Mbombela, she spent five years tirelessly representing and advocating for the needs of her constituents. 
  • Teboho Sekaledi – He joined the DA in 2021 as an activist, in January 2023, he was elected as a councilor in Govan Mbeki. Subsequently, he became the caucus chairperson. With a strong academic background in engineering, Sekaledi has proposed multiple solutions to Govan Mbeki’s water crisis. The municipality has gone on to adopt some of these to alleviate water challenges in Govan Mbeki. Sekaledi is also an alumni of the DA’s Young Leaders Program.

Jane Sithole remains the leader of the DA in Mpumalanga. Sithole will now serve the party in the National Assembly.
