The DA calls on the Mpumalanga Department of Education to name and shame the schools where allegations of exam cheating was reported at some centres within the Manyeleti Circuit of Bohlabela District.
According to some students and community members, exam cheating practices have been going on for years in this area.
Apparently, learners and invigilators collude to bypass systems put in place to uphold the credibility and integrity of the public examinations. The alleged group involved in the cheating practices is called “Road To Varsity”
The DA welcomes the investigation undertaken in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education and hopes that the investigation will identify such people and expose their names. Such people cannot be called educators, they are the enemies of education and they are killing the future of these learners by colluding and allowing learners to cheat during exams.
While we wait for the outcome of the investigations, these school/s names must be made known to the public. The department cannot be seen to be protecting school/s where this shocking revelation has surfaced.
Any learner who acquires a senior certificate through scrupulous means, will struggle at higher education level and may not be able to obtain their qualification as intended.
Strong action must be taken against those who are found guilty of such behaviour.
