The DA in Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality is pleased to announce that the community of Ward 7 in Ramokgeletsane will have access to clean water.
Through the DA’s hard work and commitment of serving the community, Ramokgeletsane a village of Siyabuswa was provided with a new 5250 litre Jojo tank.
Over 300 households will now be able to access clean water within their radius, unlike before, where they were required to walk for 1 Km with a wheelbarrow loaded with buckets of water.
Water challenges have been well detailed in this area in the past few years and the municipality has failed to implement a plan to deal with their reservoir’s water level that is always low.
The DA finds it unacceptable that the municipality was able to connect taps in this village, however, there is no water from these taps. This is one of many failed projects under the ANC government.
Residents from this village have been deprived of their right to water. Residents have become immune to the so-called ‘technical problems’ across the municipality’s water reservoirs.
With loadshedding at its peak, the situation has gotten worse with the municipality water stations being unable to pump at a full capacity as they rely on electricity for pumping and purifying the water.
Despite this, the Water and Infrastructure department within the municipality have failed to ensure that there is quality water and sanitation available to residents.
The DA will continue to hold the municipality accountable and ensure that the needs of the residents are catered for.
