The DA in Mpumalanga has written to the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality concerning months of interrupted power supply in KwaMhlanga Township. The interruption is not related to loadshedding.

We received complaints from residents of Sun City A, B, D and Zacheni Village about their struggle with power outages for the last three months. They have reported the matter to Eskom and the local municipality, but they have been brushed off by authorities.

Residents seeking assistance at the local Eskom office located at Kwaggafontein Mall about the aforementioned issue, have also been turned away and supplied with incorrect information. They are disappointed and frustrated by these power outages which is not related to load-shedding.

It is the responsibility of the authorities to fix the massive interruption of power supply in these areas and they must not hide behind load-shedding whilst prolonging suffering among residents.

The DA has written to the municipality and Eskom, urging them to fix the massive interruption of power supply in these areas and also commit to attend to residents’ complaints. Paying consumers deserve reliable electricity supply in these areas.
