The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mpumalanga will write to MEC of Human Settlements, Norah Mahlangu, to request that she investigates the eviction of Mrs Elizabeth Ndlovu, a 91 year old pensioner in Morgenzon, Lekwa Local Municipality.
It is shocking and disheartening to note that a pensioner that has been living with her grandchildren was evicted from her home that she lived in for over a decade.
Reports say the house was allegedly forcefully taken from her after a court clerk, Buyi Mfusi, sold the house to Acting Manager of the Municipality, Mduduzi Makhanye.
In a statement written by the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO), it is stated that Gogo Ndlovu was removed by Mfusi and Makhanye with the help of the SAPS. They then demolished the house and left the Ndlovu family homeless.
As the DA we strongly condemn these actions; ANC senior officials think they can shamelessly continue to disgrace and take away the dignity of poor South Africans.
We will write to the MEC to request a full investigation into the matter and to investigate the sale of RDP houses by court officials.
