Yesterday, the Democratic Alliance Youth (DAY), accompanied by provincial DAWN (DA Women’s Network) chairperson, Cllr Annerie Weber, and DA activists held a successful voter registration drive in Bushbuckridge where young people where encouraged to register inorder to bring change to Bushbuckridge local municipality.

During our engagements with community members, we heard how many young people felt that they had been locked out of opportunities by the failing ANC-led government.

A resident of Thulamahashe stated that there were a number of challenges faced by the community which the ANC has failed to fix for years. These challenges include lack of jobs, water, RDP houses, corruption and nepotism. Another resident states that the high levels of unemployment in Bushbuckridge, has turned the youth towards drugs and criminal activities in order to sustain themselves.

Just like many municipalities in Mpumalanga, the failing ANC-led government has forgotten about the people and chooses rather to focus on self-enrichment at the expense of the people.

A DA-led government will bring real change to Bushbuckridge by creating sustainable jobs, speeding up service delivery and cutting corruption by ensuring that corrupt officials are arrested and kept far away from public funds.

This coming weekend is the last voter registration weekend and it is paramount that all residents of Bushbuckridge come out and register in order to bring change to this municipality.

The DA remains committed to building One South Africa for All where no citizen is left behind and the needs of the people are  placed first.
