The Democratic Alliance (DA) secured a landslide victory in the Ward 30 by-election in White River, Mbombela Municipality, winning the polls by a majority of 1679 votes.

This remarkable growth is testament to the DA’s strong brand as a party of delivery with zero tolerance to corruption.

The DA received 71.84% of the vote, up from 70.08% in 2016. This result demonstrates the continued faith voters have in the DA’s track record of service delivery.

DA candidate Rowan Torr retained the ward for the DA and this win will see him installed as a new DA ward councillor in the Mbombela Municipality.

DA: 1679 (71.84%)

ANC: 499 (21.35%)

EFF: 44 (1.88%)

ACDP: 115 (4.92%)

These results show that we are firmly on track and we are building momentum towards the local government elections in 2021.

The DA would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of our supporters who contributed to yesterday’s successful results.

The DA remains committed to bringing change that builds one South Africa For All. Change that stops corruption, speeds up the delivery of quality basic services and opens access to real, long-term jobs.

We will continue to work tirelessly in Ward 30 and across the entire province. We wish our newly elected ward councillor, Rowan Torr, the greatest success, and have full confidence that he will continue to deliver on the DA’s values to the community that he elected to serve.
