The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mpumalanga has announced and introduced its Provincial Chairperson, Bosman Grobler, as the Mayoral candidate for the local municipality of Steve Tshwete.

DA Provincial Leader, Jane Sithole, formally announced Grobler on Wednesday as the Mayoral candidate for Steve Tshwete local municipality in Middelburg. His campaign, #MayorBosman, was also launched. Grobler was born and bred in Middelburg (Mpumalanga), and that is where he lives and continues to serve.

The DA identified Steve Tshwete as its strategic local municipality for this upcoming local government elections because that is where we have a stronger caucus that is almost on par (head to head) with the ruling ANC.

If voted and elected as Mayor, Grobler has made a commitment that in his first 100 days in office he would make the Middleburg CBD safer again and attractive for Companies and aspirant individuals to do businesses so that more jobs can be created. He also committed to clean the rot within the municipality and municipal employees themselves.

He said: as a potential Provincial Economic Hub, Steve Tshwete local municipality under a DA Mayor would be made more conducive and attractive for all businesses, small, medium or big to flourish. This municipality will also be very important for the DA’s growth and its influence across the province should we win it. That’s another reason it is our strategic municipality.

Grobler’s announcement as Mayoral Candidate for Steve Tshwete follows a thorough candidate selection process that has taken almost two years, and which included stringent candidate testing, independent assessments and multiple layers of candidate interviews.

During the #MayorBosman campaign launch, Jane Sithole was joined by Bosman Grobler, DA aspirant candidates, and activists in a walk to the main entrance of the municipality to flight DA Mpumalanga’s first slogan poster into the 2021 Local Government Election campaign.

The DA will put all necessary resources to campaign and help Grobler win and become Mayor of this strategic municipality for the next five years.
